Job Description:/h3:
The Financial Analyst : Brands will report to the Sr. Finance Manager : Brands and provide support to Brand Management for Business Planning and Analysis (BP and A): budgeting, strategic planning, financial forecasting, reporting and analysis of assigned brands. The Financial Analyst coordinates the analysis of brand margin and contribution drivers including revenue, price promotions, consumer incentives, cost of goods and tactical and marketing spending. This position will require building strong working relationships with brand managers, trade marketing, and the accounting and finance team. This role will be responsible for analytical and decision support to the brand teams, especially in the areas of strategic and annual planning, forecasting, brand analysis, budget oversight, and brand reporting. In addition, this role will support and provide financial education by instilling a value creation mindset throughout the Brand Management teams to increase marketing effectiveness and efficiency.
Financial Planning and Analysis
* Compile, review, analyze and provide recommendations on key Brand P and L components and drivers (e.g. depletions, shipments, billings, inventory days, distributor and retailer margins, pricing, gross margin, advertising and promotion spend, brand contribution, market analysis, syndicated consumer data, SKU profitability etc.)
* Develop and manage pricing and financial models to support brand planning, maximize
volume/profitability trade:offs and support short and long:term strategic brand goals.
* Provide economic analysis and coordination for margin reviews, line extensions, innovation projects and cost savings
* Build and maintain financial models and analysis to support profitable marketing investments for the brand.
* Manage monthly brand reporting and related accounting close support.
Collaboration and Influence
* Liaise with Brand Management to ensure alignment between overall brand strategy and specific advertising and promotion activities as well as competitive threats to ensure that brand performance will be achieved.
* Provide practical and consultative financial guidance to drive business decision:making across brands.
* Collaborate with all departments and senior management on budget/forecast submissions, presentations and monthly financial performance reviews.
* Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports, and presenting findings with recommendations.
Process Efficiencies and Operational Leverage
* Integrate company strategic initiatives and competitive intelligence into brand planning and brand management.
* Review and approve proposed price changes to FOBs based on marketing strategy and financial impact.
* Analyze and review brand marketing and program spending, impact on financial and strategic goal attainment and return on investment.
* Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business related field is required. MBA is preferred.
* 3:5 years business experience in accounting / finance.
* Experience with a brand:focused company and exposure to the consumer products industry and customer trade spending is required.
* Previous experience working with Alcoholic Beverage industry strongly preferred.
* Experience using syndicated data (such as Nielsen or NABCA) to conduct research and data analysis to resolve complex issues is a plus.
* Previous experience in competitive pricing analysis is highly desired.
* Demonstrated ability to build and sustain good interdepartmental relationships.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance regulations, policies and procedures.
* Ability to formulate, initiate and administer policies and procedures for effective fiscal control and business optimization.
