POSITION OVERVIEW

The Admissions Associate provides assistance with all aspects of the admission and recruitment process for the school. In addition s/he is responsible for the internal management of key recruitment & outreach programming in coordination with the Director of Admissions and Community Outreach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment & Outreach
» Serve as an initial point of contact for prospective families and other constituents seeking information about Mercy High School
» Speak publicly to individuals, groups on and off campus
» Develop and maintain close working relationships with administration from parochial, public schools and other community partners
» Assist in the development and maintenance of the Office of Admissions’ recruitment and outreach plan with the purpose of promoting the school’s visibility and general recruitment efforts via email, print, and other media
» In collaboration with the Director of Admissions, responsible for the development and delivery of on-campus events including Skipper for a Day visitor program; Fall Open House, campus tours, Girls Night In, HSPT testing dates, etc.
» Manages and coordinates travel & presentation calendar for the Office of Admissions
» supervise all web site changes for Advancement & Admission offices
» Coordinates all mailings, public relation and other community outreach from the school
Admissions
» Provides clerical support of the admissions office; manages data collection system for the department; analyzes data for trends and prepares data for reporting purposes
» Counsel prospective candidates (domestic & international) on the admission process; admission counseling occurs primarily via email and phone calls
» Prepares admission files and maintains materials submitted by candidates; provides follow up to families regarding application status
» Establishes and manages admission interview schedule and other activities related to admission selection process
» As a member of the Admissions Committee, participates in admission interviews and provides additional assistance in the evaluation of applications for the purpose of making admission decisions
» Maintains all I-20 and international applications and acceptances
» Works with Director of Admissions & Community Outreach to notify students and parents about admission decisions

Other tasks

» Serve as member of editorial staff for Mercy News
» Provide secondary support as needed to other campus departments
» Other tasks as assigned by the Head of School through the Advancement Council
» Commitment to and knowledge of the Mercy charism and the mission.
» Faculty is required to share supervision tasks and expected to attend (this list is not all-inclusive):
» All-school assemblies – required
» Open House – required
» Liturgies – required
» Freshman Welcome Reception – required
» Graduation – required
» Faculty/staff retreats – required
» Faculty/staff meetings – required
» Admissions Interview Day – as needed
» Social activities – encouraged
» Sporting activities – encouraged
» Fine arts productions – encouraged
» Other tasks as assigned by the Admission Director

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree; practice in school admissions or related work preferred
» Bilingual capability in Spanish or Mandarin/Cantonese desired
» Knowledge of Mercy charism
» Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork expertise
» Must possess a valid California State Driver’s License and have DMV Clearance
» Must have knowledge and practice with GSuite and MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
» Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork expertise
» capability to lead, manage and mentor students/personnel in a way that reflects the mission of the school
» Demonstrated capability to communicate and work effectively with diverse people and communities
» High degree of computer literacy including practiced with various software
» Strong commitment and knowledge of charism and the mission of Mercy
» availability and commitment to create and design new programs that will enhance admissions efforts
» Some evening and weekend hours required, especially during fall recruitment season.
