Job Description

We are looking for an extraordinary software engineer to drive the continuous evolution of our frontend architecture. In this role you will provide technical vision and work with our frontend engineering team to deliver on that vision across the entire Optimizely platform. Your work will help change the way the world's best brands do business by making sophisticated digital experimentation simple.

Our stack: We build with React and manage state with NuclearJS, our open-source Flux implementation using Immutable.js data structures. We write ES6 and leverage Webpack and Babel to deliver an application that is written with clean code and is performantly delivered to our users. Our React components and Sass code are reusable and generic, and live standalone in our open-source component library, OUI.

Why is this exciting for you?

* You believe that you can amplify the productivity of a large frontend engineering team by investing in the proper technologies, tools, and patterns.

* You are excited by the prospect of rallying engineers around technical initiatives and seeing changes through to production.

* You want to have a significant impact on Engineering at a company that is on the growth path towards large scale and long-term success.

* You are passionate about the opportunity to share your knowledge with a team of frontend engineers with a wide variety of experience levels and a diverse array of backgrounds.

What you will be doing

* Owning the next phase of evolution for the frontend architecture at Optimizely, ensuring that Optimizely is making the right frontend technological choices to enable future business growth. For example: should we continue to maintain and evolve NuclearJS or migrate to Redux?

* Defining multiple quarter roadmaps to ensure that the future of the frontend codebase is clear, inspiring, and attainable. You'll work with Engineering and Product Management to see your roadmaps become production reality.

* Guiding the development of our frontend codebase across all Optimizely products by working with engineers to make smart decisions about state management, component hierarchy, separation of concerns, and consistency across all platforms and channels.

* Driving improvements in frontend code organization, documentation, and onboarding while also enabling engineers across the entire Engineering team to contribute to the frontend codebase.

* Multiplying the output of both the frontend team and the broader Engineering organization through your leadership abilities, mentorship, and your own development contributions.

* Seeking regular feedback from our frontend engineering team to shape your understanding of what development efforts will yield the most value.
