IDGA?s US Media Engineering Group is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team US Media Engineering is responsible for IDGA?s growing portfolio of consumer and enterprise technology sites, including: , , , and to name a few. The Sr. Software Engineer will work directly with business stakeholders in an agile development environment to both create new functionality, and maintain/troubleshoot existing functionality of their media news network of sites, including a custom CMS. IDG provides excellent benefits and a commitment to employee work/life balance.Develop and apply advanced state:of:the:art engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the solution of complex problems affecting our platformLead continuous quality improvement in meeting internal and external stakeholder requirementsCoordinate technical design activities across the team to deliver highly:available and highly:scalable solutionsIdentify and prototype best practices for backend databasesPerform and communicate in a team environmentDeliver creative and efficient solutions to complex problems on timeProvide accurate estimates on level of effort for upcoming work and keep accurate records of progress and completion of workInteract with cross:functional groups to develop new functionality and support existing stakeholdersBS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience with strong understanding of OO principlesAdvanced level programming experience in Java5+ years of web development experience, preferably in high:volume production environmentsAdvanced level experience with Web Technologies (Apache Tomcat, AJAX, HTML, HTTP, SOAP, XML)Proficient in JavaScript and JQueryProficient using Eclipse as main development environmentIntermediate level experience with relational databases, data modeling, and SQL/JDBCComfortable with the Unix command line and shell scriptingExperience with web application security best practices such as preventing XSS, SQL injection, etc.Previous work with version control software, preferably Git, including branching, merging and resolving conflictsExperience with an issue tracking product, preferable Jira by AtlassianExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsA Plus:Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud Computing, Azure)Can solve multi:threaded, asynchronous, and distributed systems problemsProficiency in struts 2Experience with unit testing, test coverage, and other testing best practicesExperience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.Knowledge of how to scale to support both web and mobile applicationsExperience building and maintaining content management systemsExperience with Agile and Scrum methodologiesComfortable with implementing API:based solutions using SOAP/REST/JSONPlease be sure to upload a formatted version of your resume and cover letter during the application process.
