The Job
The VP Engineering has responsibility for all aspects of the software development, security, deployment and reliability of the product and supporting internal applications. This responsibility includes: managing the agile development process; working with stakeholders, product management and executive team to ensure efficient prioritization, specification and development of products; establishing quality control measures; managing and mentoring the development team; providing architectural oversight; and ensuring the product is reliable, secure and functional for customers.

Engineering Team
At present, the engineering team currently consists of 10 offshore developers and QA personnel at a single office in Delhi India, under the management of a senior software engineer. This includes front:end, back:end, database and test automation engineers.
DevOps and Product are local and we expect the VPE to hire a bunch more engineers.
We currently run an agile development process based on one:week sprints, two:week internal deployments, and frequent external releases. We utilize
JIRA/Confluence/BitBucket, as well as Slack/Google Hangouts/Google Listserve, and regular calls and chats to collaborate.

The Rest of the Company
Our Engineering Team works closely with our UX team (lead by a UX designer with 20+ years of experience), our Data Science team (lead by our CTO, who has a PhD in Computer Science and 24 years of experience building text analytics systems), our Director of DevOps (who has 20+ years of experience at Cisco, Riverbed, BEA, etc), and a Product Manager. The company also has a disproportionate number of attorneys, who provide domain:level expertise on the documents we analyze.
Our CEO has had multiple successful exits as a senior exec (CEO,COO, CFO, GC) at other startups and is a subject matter expert working with the types of documents and data handled by the company.
Provide knowledgeable, well:reasoned guidance to the software team with respect to major software design decisions.
Maintain a culture of camaraderie across a group of already existing highly skilled and capable team members.
Grow out the software team ensuring best practices and solid training are part of the culture.
Develop long term plan for repeatable processes, growth and continued improvement of high quality software.
Provide visibility and transparency on engineering matters to the executive team, and communicate proper resourcing and budget needs.
Help identify appropriate infrastructure enhancements, conduct due diligence and evolve our technology
