Location: San Francisco and Bay Area
Rate: Salary with performance based pay
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships with customers and Channel Partners to drive new sales. Target relationships include cold storage facility operators, food distribution centers, food processing operators, supermarkets and grocery operators, as well as working with utilities to leverage energy efficiency incentive programs for our customers. Target Channel Partners include refrigeration service companies and energy efficiency related service companies (ESCOs).
Candidate Profile
The Business Development Manager will take the lead in the development of new business opportunities that support Viking Colds overall growth strategy. The candidate should possess an entrepreneurial spirit, passion for originating sales, and a proven track record of success within an energy efficiency or technical field. This position will work closely with marketing, sales, engineering, and product management teams to achieve sales and revenue goals and implement business development initiatives. In addition, they must be able to pro:actively work across organizational areas (Executive Management, Operations, Engineering, etc.) to develop, launch, and manage opportunities. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:Develop new business opportunities with Channel Partners and other potential customers through all stages of the sales cycle including targeting, prospecting, and presenting proposals.
:Prepare and present effective sales presentations that demonstrate the value proposition of Viking Cold Solutions systems.
:Develop and execute a strategic business plan that meets or exceeds established sales goals and supports Company revenue and profitability targets.
:Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline targeting entities to continuously grow the business and generate sales.
:Effectively manage large scale, complex contract negotiations and close deals working closely with the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
:Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful implementations.
:Attend conferences, trade shows, and professional association meetings to promote Viking Colds products and brand.
:Prepare and give business reviews and presentations to the senior management team.
:Other duties as assigned.
:Five to ten years Sales and/or Sales Engineering experience
:Previous experience in energy efficiency product sales is preferred
:Demonstrated understanding and application of complex sales techniques
:A track record of creating, negotiating, and closing large:scale sales
:Demonstrated effectiveness in prospecting and developing new business
:Demonstrated ability to define and operationalize sales objectives
:Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
:Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, and time management to meet deadlines
:Results focused and details oriented
:Ability to work effectively in a home:based environment
:Ability to travel within assigned territory 25 to 50 of time
B.A., Business, Engineering, or other related field or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred, but not required
