Anticipated Hiring Range*

$1,927.00 to 2,250.00 per month ($23,124.00 to 27,000.00 per year)

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Position Summary*

Under general supervision of the Clinic Director, provide clinical and technical support, instruction and supervision to the faculty, student and community users of the Psychology Training Clinic and Test Library. Conduct intake interviews for clients and attend supervision sessions with supervising faculty. Provide counselling sessions for clients regarding career, academic, learning, life or related issues. Have familiarity with a range of psychological tests and assessment tools including their appropriate use and users in order to assist faculty, student and community users. First point of contact for clients seeking psychotherapy and/or assessment services at the Psychology Clinic. Handles sensitive and confidential material monitors and deposits Clinic user fees, maintains Clinic schedule, files, and facilities including digital recording equipment. Acts as a liaison and referral source with other campus and community offices.

Minimum Qualifications*

The following knowledge and abilities as well as those listed at the lower levels in the Student Services Professional series are required for appointment into this classification. Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned; general knowledge of individual counseling techniques; general knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned. Working knowledge of student services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned.

Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; advise students individually and in groups on complex student related matters; determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature; interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations, analyze and define the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action; carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a University setting

* Three to five years previous work experience in a Clinical facility or comparable work setting

* Knowledge of other services available to clients both within and external to the University

* Master s degree in Clinical Psychology or related field

* A demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with professional and ethical standards (American Psychological Association and/or California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists) regarding the practice of psychotherapy, administration and usage of psychological tests and conducting research

* Effective written and communication skills

* Ability to analyze complex situation accurately and adopt effective courses of actions

* Ability to determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature
