The Director of Merchandising/DTC position requires a key creative and business driver to lead and manage merchandising efforts for the Pottery Barn Teen DTC channels. This position requires a sophisticated individual with great vision, high standards, exquisite taste, and strong leadership. The Director will lead a merchant team and partner with peers, direct reports and cross:functional partners in design, inventory, sourcing, customer service and creative services to develop and implement the overall strategy.
Essential Job Functions:
Identify the strategic direction for assigned division for the Pottery Barn Teen DTC channels, execute against plan and drive positive results for division. Communicate the vision and inspire team to develop business plans, identify new opportunities and deliver results.
Develop product assortment to appeal to the Pottery Barn Teen customer demographic; analyze business results and use sound decision making skills to refine the product offering to maximize sales and profitability.
Provide direction and vision on location photo shoots in collaboration with the Creative department to develop images with product that align to seasonal strategy. Also, partner with Creative department to determine and review ecommerce presentation for key products, collections and departments.
Review and approve product mix to ensure all collections have a cohesive look and meet quality standards. Ensure current trends are capitalized upon throughout the department, while maintaining a focus on core products and best sellers:
o Strategic plans to explore new business opportunities
o Placement quantities from Inventory Management
o Final samples
o Ecommerce presentation
o Annual and seasonal financial plans to maximize sales and profits
o Target retails
o Estimated IMU percentage
o Markdown Strategy
Cultivate strategic vendor relationships through a partnership with Sourcing, Product Development and Inventory to deliver high quality products to our customers in a timely and cost efficient manner.
Recruit and develop merchants to lead and collaborate with cross:functional partners in selecting premier home furnishing products, while considering product quality, positioning, placement and pricing.

BS/BA required 8 + years of Buying/Merchandising experience.
Experience managing others and leading a team.
Home furnishings and interior design knowledge preferred.
