Role
The Job Placement Manager is charged with uncovering and building relationships with job sectors that provide employment to community members with limited English proficiency; coordinating job fairs that increase the knowledge of employment opportunities and create access to employers; coordinating workshops that help build skills that remove barriers and increase employment qualities and job retention for our clients and other job seekers; and providing case management services to clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and implementing a job retention system.
• Compile, develop, and maintain file notes, statistical reports, and records with both partners and participants to better understand our own internal success rate and trends.
• Conduct client intake.
• Conduct job site analysis and make calculated decisions regarding an employer’s appropriateness for clientele.
• Create and maintain pipelines to employment that give access to direct placements within a company.
• Develop placements to living wage jobs so that clients and their families can obtain financial stability.
• Develop and maintain long-term, cooperative working relationships with private, public, and community employment partners.
• Develop a service or employment plan for program clients and participants in conjunction with the Employment Coordinators.
• Develop and coordinate job placement activities, such as field trips and employment workshops.
• Liaison between the multi-lingual Employment Coordinators and potential employers.
• Maintain current job orders, applications, interview data, and initiate techniques to better serve and match participants with jobs.
• Maintain current information on other support services regarding employment to best support our clients and participants.
• Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature, ensuring that client and organization records are kept confidential at all times.
• Monitor job market information with immigrant employment trends and shifts.
• Participate on workforce and employment committees, collaborations, and campaigns as assigned and as appropriate.
• Participate in nurturing a harmonious and teamwork oriented work environment.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by Supervisor.
• Seek and present information on new emerging career pathways through workshops, one-on-one training and other venues.
• Work in partnership with the Program Manager in creating and maintaining an internal job bank database.

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience

An undergraduate degree in mental health and social services, personnel management and/or vocational services, or the equivalent combination of education and experience with this specific population is preferred. Strong consideration will be given to applicants with education and experience in the human services and social work fields. Commitment to social and economic justice, knowledge of issues impacting working class immigrants in San Francisco, and an ability to work effectively with working class Chinese, Latino, and Filipino immigrants are preferred.

Skills and Abilities
Fluency in English and Spanish is required, literacy in Spanish is strongly preferred. Strong computer skills including intermediate MS Office skills, Internet research and past experience with database systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work autonomously with focused direction, advocate for team approach, utilize strong organizational skills, project appropriate confidence, listen well, problem solve in on-the-spot situations, remain calm and reassuring in unexpected situations. Ability to work in an independent, organized, calm and reassuring manner using good boundaries and good judgment; to be reliable, dependable and flexible; and to accept supervision, suggestions and feedback. Ability to work within all the rules, regulations, and policies that govern the workforce center’s compliance. Organizational skills required as well as a flexible schedule and hours may vary and include evening work. California driver’s license, with an insurance DMV record as well as the use of a personal vehicle for business use (mileage will be reimbursed monthly).

Physical Requirements
Capable of the following intermittent activities: stretching, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, reaching above or below the shoulder, pushing, grasping, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, driving, writing, standing, hearing and sitting. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

Salary & Benefits
This position is full-time, exempt, and includes competitive benefits. Salary range is $48,000 - $52,000, depending on experience.

Work schedule
Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays.
