Job Summary

Seeking an experienced and licensed Junior Associate as a team member in a small financial planning office in San Francisco. Under the direction of the Senior Advisor, the Junior Associate supports many aspects of the financial planning process, including: relationship management, sales, case analysis, development of recommendations, and implementation of the financial plans from cradle to grave. The position requires the ability to work directly and independently with clients and provide dynamic financial advice and a robust array of investment solutions.

This role will support the day-to-day activities of the Senior Advisor such as preparing for client meetings, helping to create financial plans, placing investment trades, completing applications, and working with clients to resolve issues and other practice management tasks as needed.
This position will consistently follow high standards of business and professional ethics and legal and regulatory requirements when dealing with others and/or performing work activities.

Financial Planning

• Serve as secondary financial advisor relationship providing individualized needs-based investment advice and comprehensive financial planning

• Apply broad knowledge of financial products, services, and strategies to provide holistic advice

• Conduct comprehensive suitability review and provide recommendations based on client risk tolerance, goals, timelines, objectives and individual preferences

• Research and understand third party analyst research and build back-tested hypothetical portfolios. Document recommendations in client file.

• Build retirement income plans using the Fidelity Retirement Income Evaluator

• Review cash levels quarterly and schedule Periodic Reviews with clients


Meeting Preparation, Attendance and Follow-Up

Meeting Preparation


• Prepare agenda and main speaking points for client meeting, including review of previous meeting notes to ensure follow-up on homework and bullet points achieved

• Prepare product illustrations, applications, disclosure documents, charts, graphs, tables and other visual aids to be used in implementation meetings with clients

• Prepare financial planning documents such as Morningstar hypotheticals, illustrations, Fidelity Retirement Income Evaluator or specific investment research and analysis


Meeting Attendance and Client Contact

• Attend client meetings with Senior Advisor and get to know the clients over time

• Take relevant notes regarding goals, concerns, issues that need to be addressed, and suitability concerns

• Record action items and homework assignments for both MFA and the client


Meeting Follow-Up

• Properly document and perform all follow-up service work in Redtail

• Schedule action items in Redtail using Tasks

• Prepare and send follow-up communication of homework items to client for their action and records


Investment Management

• Review of existing holdings, analyst ratings, Morningstar reviews for changes in investment quality, performance, manager changes

• Ensure current and proposed Asset Allocation matches time horizon and risk tolerance

• Review paperwork on file to verify that suitability matches to existing investments

• Prepare Historical Illustration by selecting appropriate investments and document selections

• Demonstrate knowledge of actively and passively managed mutual funds, ETF’s and index funds

• Demonstrate knowledge of the full array of annuity products in the market place

• Analyze historical returns, and prepare customized performance figures, (i.e. Cumulative Return, Average Annual Return, and Internal Rate of Return)


Sales

• Possess the ability to explain and sell financial planning and advisory services and financial products, including Moore Financial Advice, Liberty Group and NFS

• Use of data and supporting documentation to demonstrate significant points

• Ability to overcome objections and redirect clients to the solution at hand

• Proven ability to gather assets by cross-selling

• Prepare product illustrations, applications, and disclosure documents


Business Management/Customer Service

• Follow-up by phone and email to client correspondence

• Maintain client contact during the financial planning process. Answer questions and Oversee Administrative Assistant in preparation of new account and service paperwork. Assist with day-to-day servicing of clients

• Place trades on Streetscape and document on Trade Blotter

• Manage and maintain the Master Dollar-Cost-Averaging list and process monthly trades solicitations with client


Compliance

• Absolute commitment to adhere to rules and regulations as stated and required by advisor, Liberty Group, FINRA, SEC and MSRB

• Ability to support and provide guidance for compliance within the advisor's practice

• Practice total disclosure with clients to adhere to Moore Financial Advice’s value propositions of Total Honesty, Complete Disclosure, and maintaining the Highest Level of Integrity


Education and Other Designations

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Certified Financial Planning designation preferred

• 5 years in position with comparable responsibilities

• Series 7, Series 66/5, and California State life, accident and health
