Job Description

The Center for Families are a group of clinicians and parents that have been working with teens and families collectively for over 100 years. We lead families to healing through support groups, clinical therapy, and educational workshops. We have all been personally touched by mental health issues and are able to share our experience, strength and hope with you.

We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated teacher to join our team. The Center for Families Day School teacher oversees all aspects of the academic program with supervision and support from the Director of Education and the Program Director. In collaboration with parents, teachers create an individualized academic plan in order for the adolescent to achieve stated goals. Teacher must be able to oversee multiple students working at a variety of paces on various subjects. Candidate must have previous classroom experience, proven ability to manage the classroom dynamics, and ability to build strong rapport with teens.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

x25AA; Coordinate with schools to gather academic information about students

x25AA; In coordination with families and the student, develop an individual academic plan for all students based on relevant academic information

x25AA; When required, ability to coordinate with school to administer coursework in a timely manner

x25AA; Provide daily and weekly assignment scheduling and support students in setting weekly goals

x25AA; Monitor student progress

x25AA; Provide individual instruction and academic support to students

x25AA; Communicate behavioral, academic and attendance concerns to clinical staff

x25AA; Work with clinical staff to devise appropriate interventions to address concerns with students

x25AA; Participate in weekly Treatment Team meeting and works collaboratively with the clinical team

x25AA; Send weekly email updates to parents

x25AA; Complete weekly charting in electronic documentation system

x25AA; Participate in bi:weekly supervision meeting with Director of Education

OTHER RELATED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

x25AA; Strong written and oral communication skills.

x25AA; Experience working with students with auditory processing deficits, ADD/ADHD, reading comprehension difficulties, and short term memory deficits a plus

x25AA; Knowledge of various classroom management strategies, differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions

x25AA; Ability to read, analyze and interpret educational language and school transcripts.

x25AA; Ability to define problems and set logical consequences.

x25AA; Ability to make accommodations and modifications to students learning environment.

x25AA; Ability to work with minimal supervision.

x25AA; Proficient in basic computer skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Education and Experience Required:

Candidate must have a valid California Teaching Credential, special education credential preferred and masters degree preferred. A minimum of two years teaching experience in the 7th:12th grades. Candidate should have experience in teaching various types of students and ability to adjust their approach to meet the needs of all students.
