Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing the production, writing and editing of all copy for Williams:Sonoma ecommerce, plus copying for other Williams:Sonoma special projects as needed.
Specific Responsibilities
* Oversee development of product copy, editorial copy, site development copy and other messaging for the Williams:Sonoma website, along with direct marketing emails and advertising banners.
* Supervise team of freelance writers, assigning copy as needed.
* Establish copy needs for each seasonal website cycle, develop writers list and conduct copy meetings with merchants, ensuring that all website themes, product information and copy points are clearly communicated to freelance writers.
* Establish copy needs for direct marketing emails and advertising banners, ensuring that all copy requirements are clearly communicated to freelance writers.
* Edit all Williams:Sonoma website copy through each step of the production schedule, from internal editing through confirming and final proofs, incorporating revisions
* Edit all Williams:Sonoma direct marketing email and advertising banner copy
* As needed, write product copy, editorial copy, site development copy, advertising banner copy and direct mail email copy.
* Collaborate with Creative Services production team to meet all product deadlines while ensuring that copy meets the changing needs of web page designs and format, cutting, expanding and rewriting copy as needed to work within the approved designs.
* Partner with production manager to plan daily and weekly editing needs
* Work with Retail and Catalog editors to share copy for cross:channel products and to ensure a consistent voice across all channels.
* Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
* 4:year Bachelors degree
* Strong editorial skills and minimum 7 years editorial experience
* Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP style
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work proactively to meet tight production deadlines
* Must be self:starter comfortable in extremely fast:paced environment
* Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
* Prior experience in cookbook or food writing a plus
* Proficiency with Macintosh operating system and Microsoft Word
