Job Title: Department Manager, Land Development (Lead Civil Engineer P.E.)
Location: San Diego, CA

Job Overview:
A successful and long:standing San Diego Civil Engineering firm is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer responsible for leading a department of project managers, project engineers and designers as well as overseeing the design and review of department projects. He or she will work with clients to help develop and maintain a pipeline of projects for the team. The Senior Civil Engineer will work closely with clients and the design team to coordinate the completion of the design while ensuring quality standards are met, maintaining project schedules and staying within project budgets. It is important to have a passion for design and engineering. This position works with a team of highly skilled designers and other technical staff. Excellent communication skills and organization is a must.
Job Duties:
:Lead a team of project managers and engineers
:Work on, and lead efforts on engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for various projects
:Establish and foster client relations as the client manager
:Prepare proposals and review proposals
:Communicate effectively with various staff, clients, and agencies
:Mentor staff members on technical matters and procedures and act as a technical resource to staff.
:Develop fee estimates for all project types and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within scope and budget.
:Prepare and conduct technical review of staff, reports, correspondence, calculations and prepare technical recommendations
:Ensure that QA/QC procedures are implemented within design teams
:Develop and initiate business development opportunities
:Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve quality and efficiency
:Participate in professional and/or technical organizations
Job Requirements:
:BS Degree in Civil Engineering
:10+ years of progressively responsible engineering and management experience
:Land development project experience
:Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
:Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally
:Experienced in preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates and providing engineering support services during construction of municipal projects
:Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
:Staff management, leadership ability and mentoring skills
:Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare reports and proposals
:Demonstrated project task management abilities
:Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
:Ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
:Strong local and client ties with area clients that require civil engineering and related services is a plusCompany Description:/h3:
