This scientist will play a key role in developing and implementing set of novel platform technologies for discovery and characterization of antibody-based therapeutics targeting infectious diseases. A key facet of the job will be to work with Vir s partners to facilitate the transfer of algorithms, workflows, and experimental techniques for antibody library creation and interrogation to Vir, as necessary. This individual will be a collaborative team player, effective critical thinker, clear communicator and possess excellent troubleshooting skills. This individual should have a strong foundation in molecular and structural biology and an advanced degree in immunology, biochemistry or a structural biology-related field and a minimum of eight years (post-graduate experience) of laboratory-based research, preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting. A robust understanding of structural and computational biology is highly preferred.
+ Implementing antibody engineering workflows
+ Developing and implementing computational tools for antibody structural modeling, antibody-antigen determination and antibody mutagenesis
+ This position will require 6 or more months of work in Cambridge, MA followed by permanent relocation to San Franciso.
+ Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology or structural biology and a minimum of eight years (post-graduate experience) of laboratory-based research.
+ Experience in drug discovery.
+ Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques.
+ Solid background in structural biology and bioinformatics is preferred.
+ Proven track record of developing and implementing biochemical assays.
+ Familiarity with protein characterization.
+ Strong skills in the areas of data analyses and solid written and oral scientific communication and documentation skills, including report writing
+ Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
+ Possess an ability to work independently, while participating and excelling in a highly-collaborative, team-oriented setting.
