The Sephora Business Analytics team is responsible for helping the organization make data:driven business decisions in the core business. The Business Analytics team plays a critical role in helping cross functional partners understand the drivers of business performance through the lens of our clients and providing actionable insights to drive future strategy across Merchandising, Marketing and Retail.
The Senior Manager position is responsible for providing thought leadership with cross functional business partners and leveraging client behavior and store data to drive strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate is data savvy and has an intellectual curiosity to drill deep to uncover business drivers and bubble up present insightful, actionable recommendations to the business. S/he is comfortable with ambiguity and exploring new growth opportunities for the business.This candidate can successfully build collaborative partnerships with cross functional business partners and key stakeholders.
:Analyze client, store and external market data to explain the drivers of business performance
:Transform business questions into fact based analysis that delivers clear insights and actionable recommendations, with some examples including evaluation of new client acquisition and brand/category performance in total and across client segments
:Partner with cross functional analytics teams to develop well:rounded perspective and bring insights together to tell a cohesive story and drive strategic decisions
:Analyze client behavior and store data to guide localization strategy and marketing / merchandising initiatives
:Design and evaluate controlled tests and store pilots to understand impact of new initiatives and guide fleet:wide implementation strategy
:Provide perspective of Sephora's business relative to total Prestige Beauty through market share analysis and reporting
:Manage, coach and mentor junior team members
:Comfortable performing complex analyses to generate data driven insightand recommendations
:Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
:Proactive approach to data exploration and opportunity identification
:Superb data analysis skills with ability to extract and interpret data from multiple sources
:Great attention to detail
:Ability to dig deep into details while keeping focus on the primary business question at hand
:Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload without becoming overwhelmed
:Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate complex topics in a simple way
:Experience working on cross functionally driven initiatives

:High degree of initiative and optimism
:Bachelors degree with 5:7 years of experience in an analytical role and 1:2 years of managing direct reports
:Experience with data mining, forecasting, and statistical analytics tools, such as SAS or SQL
:Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills
:Experience with reporting, report automation, clustering, test/control measurement, pre/post analytics
:Experience in retail and/or dotcom a plus.
:Experience with market measurement, such as Nielsen, IRI, NPD, a plus.
