MIPI Alliance: Technical Marketing Engineer
Location: Virtual (US preferred)
Status: Independent Contractor (average 30:35 hours/week)
The Contractor will serve as Technical Marketing Engineer to work across all technical working groups of MIPI Alliance (mipi). The Technical Marketing Engineer is a new role for MIPI Alliance to plan, develop and lead the implementation of the organizations technical marketing strategies and activities. This role will be responsible for working with the Marketing Steering Group (led by representatives from member companies) and the MIPI team (also MIPI Alliance contractors), to develop external (industry/public) marketing and communications activities under the direction of the Marketing Manager, the Managing Director, and an approved annual plan and budget. This is a virtual telecommuting:based role. Includes expenses:paid quarterly weeklong travel with full team (twice to US/Canada, once to Europe and once to Asia).
:Lead new technical content development, including but not limited to technical diagrams, blogs, podcasts, videos, articles, whitepapers, etc. This may involve managing contract writers, assisting subject matter experts, or writing articles and materials for distribution.
:Manage revisions and updates to MIPI Alliance system diagrams and design of the (internal) specification roadmap.
:Serve as lead reviewer for technical content, including industry articles, website content, webinars, press releases, presentations and materials from member companies. Facilitate content review process and work with subject matter experts to incorporate needed revisions and ensure accuracy.
:Serve as Project Manager for Marketing Steering Group (MSG), and work with the PM team to ensure this is done consistently compared to the other MIPI working groups.
:Develop key messaging and marketing strategies for MIPI Alliance specifications.
:Conduct positioning exercises to identify key benefits and use cases that resonate with target audiences.
:Collaborate with TWGs to promote and support marketing of specification releases and other significant milestones or deliverables.
:Develop and implement marketing and communications plans on a specification:by:specification basis.
:Help develop targeted communications for specific industry segments and potential members that serves to raise visibility of MIPI Alliance and the value of its specifications.
:Collaborate with the MSG and technical working groups (TWGs) to increase member engagement and collaborate with internal member content experts to identify target audiences, positioning and value.
:Collaborate with TWGs to promote and support marketing of specification releases and other significant milestones or deliverables.
:Develop and implement marketing and communications plans on a specification by specification basis.
:As needed, conduct market research and surveys and/or leverage research analysts to address current issues, topics and trends with MIPI Alliance areas of interest.
:Possible: represent MIPI Alliance at industry events including trade shows, conferences and speaking opportunities.
:Other activities as mutually agreed by MIPI and Contractor.
:Bachelors degree, ideally with a technical, engineering or project planning concentration.
:Excellent written communications skills.
:5+ years experience in technical or product marketing, standards promotion, service organization, or related technology consulting firm environment, plus some overall team
management/facilitation experience. Mobile industry experience a plus.
:Ability to operate comfortably in a progressive electronic environment with an emphasis on virtual project collaboration, MS Office applications, web:based tools and communication.
:Excellent interpersonal skills, strong time management and organizational skills, self:motivation, and the ability to prioritize multiple work item
