Humanities West presents Bernini’s Rome: Art and Architecture of the Baroque, a two-day program of lectures, discussions, and music exploring 17th-century Rome to reveal the astonishing outburst of creativity and the triumphant masterworks of the Baroque Age. Gian Lorenzo Bernini used his immense talents as an architect, painter, and especially as a sculptor to help define the unique visual style of the Baroque Age, inspiring both collaborators and rivals.

The panel is made up of scholars from Princeton, Berkeley, Davis, College of Marin, University of Texas, and SF Opera. Musical performance by Corey Jamason on harpsichord, with lutist Richard Savino, and soprano Céline Ricci.

The program takes place on
Friday, April 26, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and
Saturday, April 27, from 10am to 4pm
At the Marines’ Memorial Theatre, 609 Sutter Street, San Francisco
